# An Unexpected Error occurred -please help as can not access anything other than C5 error page

This error comes up and sites do not load. all was working previously and nothing changed. Also can’t login as goes to this error even from site address /index.php/login/
mysqlt error: [1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘Groups where gID = ‘1’’ at line 1] in EXECUTE(“select \* from Groups where gID = ‘1’”)

It looks like you are using an older ConcreteCMS version (before 5.6.4) with MySQL 8. You will either need to downgrade to MySQL 5.7 or upgrade the CMS to 5.6.4

Many thanks, I’ll see if my host has upgraded their MySQL version.
How can I access my dashboard to upgrade Concrete5 as I can’t login?

You will not be able to do it from the dashboard, you will have to do it with FTP/SSH, do you know what version of the CMS you are currently running?

They were both on 5.6.2 and the host has upgraded them to 5.6.4 and all good now so thanks very much for your help.
