Can't update theme or add-ons after v8 to v9 change

I have several sites using old v8. Now I have updated some of them to v9 and re-connected sites to the Marketplace and then assigned licenses.

But when I go to Extend Concrete and try update add-ons the system says ‘No updates for your add-ons are available’.

I can see on the Add functionally page a list of Currently Installed add-ons.

Do I have to buy already purchased theme and add-ons for v9 or what I do wrong?
Note: All updated sites still use php 7.4

Yeah, the new marketplace was launched in May 2024 and licenses for recent purchases (12 months prior) were migrated across. Here’s the blog post: https://www.concretecms.com/about/blog/news/the-next-marketplace
Marketplace add-ons now receive 12 months of free updates by default, and after that a new license needs to be purchased for additional updates. It makes the add-on ecosystem more sustainable for developers.

You can also try reaching out to the individual developers of the add-ons you’re referring to. Some of them may issue a complimentary license. I just released Mega Menu 3.0 and contacted previous customers who bought it on the old marketplace within a reasonable time period, offering a free license.

It can’t hurt trying.

After investigating the update v8 to v9 process I have realised that some addons you can assign at marketplace to the site for update v9 version – the newest ones. But most of them you can only assign but it doesn’t appear for update (Extend Concrete). Like you said there is only 12 month update support for free as default.

So I have to re-purchase many many addons… and definetily I’ll try to reach out the develepor if I have many to update. Thank you for this advise.

Happy to help.

And just to clarify for other users, V9 concrete sites can connect directly to the marketplace, but not V8 (as that version was at end of life 2 years ago). The core team gave some advanced notice about it, but I think the communication could have been a bit better on that - especially via email.

Since the marketplace only allows V9 compatible add-ons, if your selected add-on is no longer in the marketplace it might help to send a DM to the original developer and see if they are planning to upgrade it. The jump to V9 isn’t too hard for most add-ons.
