Change X to bluesky?

We have to remove X from client sites. @frz has this post:

anything going with this not so unpopular request?

could we also have NOSTR please ? :grinning:

It would be great if this were added, as I have also had clients request that ‘X’ is removed and replaced with BlueSky. I have managed to do this for now by adding it via the concrete.php file.

For those who cannot wait:

Add a HTML-block with following code. This makes an SVG butterfly with blue gradients as in the original Bluesky App, linking to your profile.

Change to your settings.

<p style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: auto;"><a aria-label="YOUR_LABEL" href="https://bsky.app/profile/YOUR_PROFILE_NAME.bsky.social" target="_blank" title="YOUR_PROFILE_OR_TITLE"><svg fill="none" style="width: 32px; height: 28.5px;" viewbox="0 0 64 57" width="92"><defs><lineargradient id="ccm-sky" x1="0" x2="0" y1="0" y2="1"><stop offset="0" stop-color="#0A7AFF" stop-opacity="1"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#59B9FF" stop-opacity="1"></stop></lineargradient></defs><path d="M13.873 3.805C21.21 9.332 29.103 20.537 32 26.55v15.882c0-.338-.13.044-.41.867-1.512 4.456-7.418 21.847-20.923 7.944-7.111-7.32-3.819-14.64 9.125-16.85-7.405 1.264-15.73-.825-18.014-9.015C1.12 23.022 0 8.51 0 6.55 0-3.268 8.579-.182 13.873 3.805ZM50.127 3.805C42.79 9.332 34.897 20.537 32 26.55v15.882c0-.338.13.044.41.867 1.512 4.456 7.418 21.847 20.923 7.944 7.111-7.32 3.819-14.64-9.125-16.85 7.405 1.264 15.73-.825 18.014-9.015C62.88 23.022 64 8.51 64 6.55c0-9.818-8.578-6.732-13.873-2.745Z" fill="url(#ccm-sky)"></path></svg></a></p>

Thanks, @studio108

That’s exactly how the social links can be extended to any service you can imagine without having to wait for a consensus in the core.

I don’t think any existing social network should be removed because it does not fit the current flavor. Whichever “works” should be possible to choose. And others added over time.
It’s the users choice what to use.

Thank you @CoDa_ZRH. Exactly what I needed, – I can not wait. It is my choice to cut X due to
!

@Myq, It says, the page referred may not be for my v.9. installation.
10 years is a long time. I tried to get the awesome icon. There is none, so I didn’t want to doctor and experiment around, and, at the end finding out that there is another problem.

I don’t think the removal of X from the CMS social list choice was being requested but just to add BlueSky as an additional option as it is becoming a popular alternative to X.

Question:

Does ConcreteCMS’s «Code of Conduct» also apply to Social Media Services included in the core?

Interesting Question!

To my understanding the “Code of Conduct” should apply to all parts of ConcreteCMS.

In that case, you were obliged to check what people use the CMS for. What content do they produce. This is impossible AND it is a bad idea.

I meant more what is offered in the core, extensions, website etc. and not what people do with it and how content is used.
You are right, that is impossible.

Bluesky has more than 32 Mio users today – defintively an alternative and worth their ccm icon.

First time hearing about NOSTR. Just looked into it, and it’s fascinating!

Well, as I understand, the available social services depend on the available FontAwesome Icons. So whichever icon is available in the fab class can be easily used.

Whichever Icon is NOT available in the fab class is a completely other journey to add.

I actually expected an answer from the Portland team about my question “code of conduct”. But never mind, no answer is also an answer. It seems, that many blend out certain issues.

@Cahueya: Thanks for clarifying the fa journey.
We’ll see when and if a Bluesky icon will be available. We’ll go for the zero-wait solution for now. It works!

My personal understanding is that the code of conduct applies to the way people should conduct themselves when contributing to the project, whether that be through code submissions, bug reports, or discussions of issues surrounding the project (such as on this forum).

If someone proposed directly linking from Concrete to some website or service which was solely, or even primarily, devoted to something that runs contrary to the ideals detailed in the code of contact, that would be a clear violation. But providing links to third-party services, projects, packages, etc which are prima facia neutral platforms would not be a problem.

I think @Cahueya’s point is valid. No one can police what is done with free, neutral software, and attempting to do so would generally be a bad idea.

I agree in some parts of your post. However the service in question is not neutral as almost everybody knows, - it contradicts to some ideals of the code of conduct, so it’s rather “res ipsa loquitur”.

If the core built in a link to a Holocaust Denier group, would that be OK? X is fast tuning into that pit of evil. Let people add whatever they want after the fact but the core should have some scruples. “You get what you tolerate”, “Silence is complicity”, “Inaction is a form of action”, "We can ignore reality, but we cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.”, “Stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”

Pick your quote. Just an opinion from an old man. Now, get off my lawn!! LOL

By all means, make a pull request to remove anything you feel might be violating the code of conduct and a discussion with consequences will occur around it. It’s an open source project

What about Add support for Bluesky by mlocati · Pull Request #12492 · concretecms/concretecms · GitHub?

Please remark that Nostr has approximately 1 million users, whereas Bluesky has around 33 million.
