Curious about updating a site - site owner, not a developer here

I am the owner of netknots.com, a fairly large website running on Concrete5 version 8.4.3. I have lost my developer (that did wonderful work) and am curious if my site has fallen too far behind the update versions. In reading through other posts it seems v9 has come and gone and now v10 is here or soon to be. I would like advice on whether my site that runs just fine now needs to get updated and if so, how might I find a developer to take the project. Thank you.

Your site will continue to run just fine as long as the hosting company does not force a PHP update to php version 8.
If you consider this to be a possibility then an update of the core files to the latest codebase (currently 9.3.7) would prevent your site from crashing when the PHP version is switched over.
To find a developer to take on this codebase update for you, just pop a post in the Jobs & Gigs Category.
I would recommend that the developer should carry out the update procedure on a development server for testing and when successfully completed should then transfer the updates files and database to your live server (overwriting the existing files).
If your hosting company has php 7.4 LTS as an option in the control panel then you can stay on your existing codebase without updating since LTS means ‘Long Term Support’.
I hope this answers your question.
