Is it possible to disable the new highlighting of editable blocks and areas in version 9.2

I am currently developing a site in version 9.2.0 and finding that the new highlighting of blocks, areas, layouts and containers are causing more harm than benefit.

I have been using C5 since 5.6, in previous versions, pages in edit mode largely appeared as they would when published. I now find that the increased label visibility and additional spacing between elements is resulting in edit mode displaying vastly different to the published page.

Once a layout is required to be nested within another layout things get messy very quickly and I am concerned that clients will become confused when editing content and the Edit Mode displays differently to the published page rather than WYSIWYG.

Is it possible to disable this new visibility feature? This would be a great feature to be able to toggle on and off much like guides can be turned on and off in other software.
I would suggest either including the option within the toolbar while in Edit Mode or via ‘System & Settings > Basic > Accessibility’ as a global option.

Am I missing something or is there no way to control this functionality?

You could add your thoughts to the github issue at V.9.2.0 RC; in edit mode, layouts adds vertical spacing- distorting WYSIWYG · Issue #11396 · concretecms/concretecms · GitHub which would also bump it back to gather more attention.

Thank you for the reply @JohntheFish it is appreciated along with all the contributions you make. I will jump across to github and add my thoughts.

Additionally, the next ConcreteCMS Town Hall meeting is scheduled for June 13th, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. PDT (Town Halls :: Concrete CMS - Org). Viewers are invited to ask questions. The new editor highlighting was a topic of the March meeting (March 2023 Town Hall - YouTube)
