LDAP/Active Directory (not Azure or Entra ID)

I’m on the tail end of a 5 year project building out major upgrades to a Concrete CMS website and that also includes connecting authentication for the system with LDAP/Active Directory. However the only plugin I can find that does that is no longer available anywhere ( Discover Add-ons and Themes on Concrete CMS Marketplace ).

I can’t buy it, I can’t download it, I don’t see it on the github community repos, nothing. And I sure can’t find any other way to do LDAP or Active Directory (NOT AZURE OR ENTRA ID) authentication.

We have built out redundant AD/LDAP Domain Controllers for this project and other aspects building on it, and now I’m panicking because I can’t find any way that looks reliable to connect Concrete CMS authentication to this system.

I really need a solution here, and frankly I’d probably prefer getting access to the ExchangeCore AD/LDAP plugin as it looks to be the most robust option.

Can ANYONE PLEASE help me here?

I’d also like to point out that I requested LDAP/AD authentication be mainlined like a decade ago for situations like this and was told it wouldn’t happen because of the plugin being available…

Active Directory has been re-branded. See the totally differently named PortlandLabs Microsoft Entra ID SSO :: Concrete CMS Marketplace

That’s not a rebrand, that’s a new protocol. Active Directory AND LDAP are still currently used protocols everywhere.

Furthermore, Entra ID CANNOT be self-hosted, which is a requirement for this environment.

Windows Server you can still buy today lets you set up Active Directory domains and Domain Controllers and that isn’t going away ever. There are always going to be environments where on-premise is required. And there are endless alternative implementations for LDAP too that are not Microsoft.

So, no, that’s not the appropriate solution.

Apologies, should have qualified it ‘Azure Active Directory’

C’mon man, the title of the thread literally says “(not Azure or Entra ID)” Maybe time for coffee on your end?

Either way, if you do have any other ideas, I’m all ears. Thanks for chiming in

Yeah if there’s any way to get the ExchangeCore AD/LDAP addon, I’m really most interest in that, as it’s proven to work! Can anyone help me with that?

A link to check out (if you haven’t already). Perhaps the folks involved can help (way above my pay grade)

And here:

That’s literally the documentation for the addon I ask about multiple times in this thread but cannot find a source on how to get that addon. That’s not helpful unless you can actually get me a copy of that addon, paid or whatever. Which is the whole thing I’ve been asking for here  the documentation does nothing for me if I cannot get the addon…

There is contact info within both of those links. Perhaps the developers are still active. Yes, the first one in not self-hosted but perhaps the developer has enough knowledge about the subject to help you out. The official documentation from the add-on has a support email address that also might be active. Do I need to post the contact info from these links or can you find them yourself?

  1. I’ve already tried contacting the developers, radio silence for a while now. I NEED help from someone like @andrew with access to the addon files so I can buy or get them some way.
  2. The developer (of the Entra ID package) is Portland Labs, the company behind Concrete CMS itself, and the addon has already been made, but they are the ones who have access to the addon files, I do not.

I asked for where I can get the files, not contact information, I have already reached out to them several times now with no avail.

I’m done. You could have told us what measures you took before we spent time trying to help you.

I did, and all it would have taken is for you to actually read what I wrote and extrapolate that I already had explored the aspects you brought to light.

  1. The title explicitly says “not Azure or Entra ID”, clearly demonstrating those had been known options that do not work.
  2. The below partial quote from the original post, which clearly outlines I already knew about the ExchangeCore addon and had actually tried many different ways to acquire it.

"However the only plugin I can find that does that is no longer available anywhere ( Discover Add-ons and Themes on Concrete CMS Marketplace 2 ).

I can’t buy it, I can’t download it, I don’t see it on the github community repos, nothing. And I sure can’t find any other way to do LDAP or Active Directory (NOT AZURE OR ENTRA ID) authentication."

So please leave your upset attitude out of this thread, I clearly outlined these aspects. I appreciate you and others chiming in to try and help, but don’t flip a bit when I point out aspects I had already clearly spelled out as already considered and evaluated. That’s on you bud, not me.

You just sounded a little ‘entitled’ like we all owe you something. You are the one who KNEW that LDAP was not baked into C5 when you started this project 5 years ago and now you’re in a panic that an add-on built for v5.6 in the early teens is not available.

  1. The addon actually is built for v8.5+
  2. I never made any claim that I am entitled to anything, at every step of the way I have asked for help.
  3. I am not going to escalate this discussion with you further as it does not serve anyone.

Now, if you do want to postulate any further information that might help me with my LDAP/AD integrations, I’m all ears. Otherwise, I will catch you another time. Thank you for jumping in and seeing what you could come up with.

By all appearances that add-on would be from macareux digital. @hissy may be able to help you find a copy of the addon!!

The rights are owned by Joe at ExchangeCore.

Furthermore, Entra ID CANNOT be self-hosted, which is a requirement for this environment.

Does the server need to be completely disconnected from the internet? If not, perhaps you could run Microsoft Active Directory local and have a mirror AD on Azure (Hybrid AD) for ConcreteCMS authentication.

It needs to be 100% self-hosted, no Azure, no Entra ID. It isn’t about being disconnected from the internet, it’s about the core systems being fully self-hosted.

Hmmm I was unable to find those details, never heard of macareux digital. Oooo I sure @hissy or someone can help find me a copy! As well as maybe get a copy for others who need it in the future.
