Mailto links work in edit mode but not when logged out

Trying to figure out what is going on with my obfuscated email links. They work fine when I am logged in as admin. But when I log out and use site as a visitor, I click on the link and nothing happens. Even tried to make the link target as _blank but no joy. The link looks like an anchor tag instead of mailto: even tho I have set it correctly. Any ideas please?

What are you using to obfuscate email links?

Some option or script to minify generated HTML?

I have used the C5 addon ‘Automatic Email Obfuscation’. Weird that it works while in edit mode.
