Setting up multilingual site in Concrete

I recently created a tutorial video for setting up a multilingual website in Concrete and realised that the UI isn’t super intuitive - particularly in Stacks. This tutorial might help some users who need to build out multiple languages (regardless if they use my Mega Menu add-on).

The multilingual section starts at 10:54 of the video:

Hope this helps!

Yep, that down arrow is too tiny

The look on my face when I stumbled upon it and realised what it did :anguished::tired_face:
I had scoured the source code and could see there was some functionality but had no idea where it was in the UI. And I couldn’t find any doco about it.
It’s really super powerful and I’m sure more users would take advantage of it if they knew it existed.

It wasn’t always like that. If I remember correctly, there was a separate field for that or something like that?

Someone thought it was good idea to hide such crucial element.
I remember when I first worked with website with that “gimmick”, I couldn’t find it and had to google it (despite having multiple year of experience with Concrete and PHP development). I thought core team removed multilingual global areas for some reason or whatever:D

It’s such bad UI experience (easy pick for top 10 bad UI design article), it should be buried forever.
Important selectable button hidden in breadcrumb (and this “functionality” is not even repeated anywhere else in Dashboard).
Why don’t you put simple horizontal line or select field? Everything would be better than that…

OMG, I don’t think I ever knew that was a drop down… that might explain my confusion on a few sites!

Glad to know it’s not just me. Other experienced users of Concrete also had no idea. I think adding a select field there should be a priority before V10 is released.

Make sure there’s an issue for that if that’s something you want to see changed: Issues · concretecms/concretecms · GitHub

Ok, I’ve done that right now: Multilingual UI in Stacks & Global Areas is too hard to find · Issue #12356 · concretecms/concretecms · GitHub
