Concrete5.6.4.0
I want to setup smtp through Concrete5. I am familiar with the settings but need to know if there is anywhere else (other than C5 system settings) on the webserver I need to enable it. I am using Plesk.
I cannot touch the mail settings as they run through Office365.
The purpose is to enable an auto reply email when people register that will show a password they need to use for file downloads.
The biggest issue I had was my own dumb fault. I had set up all the dns entries for the receiving email account domain (dmarc, spf, dkim) but forgot that, because of those, the sending email account domain (the settings in C5’s SMTP method) need to match.
I would install a site with my email as admin chris@oftenmakesdumbmistakes.com, enter the SMTP settings of a client’s email address like noreply@chrissclient.com, and the emails would get bounced.
Make sure the email addresses under Dashboard > System & Settings > Email > System Email Addresses are noreply@chrissclient.com or forgotpassword@chrissclients.com
Were you having any specific issues?
